Meet the Martin Locke Homes Team



Martin's love for the construction industry started back in 1986 through his days on the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane as a plumber. And while it was Rugby League that brought Martin & his family to Townsville at the end of 1995, where he played and worked for the NQ Cowboys for 10 years, the building industry was always where he was destined to return to.

In 2005, the swap from business shirt and tie, back to steel cap boots and shovel saw Martin become a site supervisor, plumber, estimator, landscaper, project manager, and builder for numerous construction projects throughout Townsville. In 2010, Martin's passion and desire to fully focus on residential new-home construction saw the establishment of Martin Locke Homes.

Today, Martin is the person that people love to meet when searching for a builder. He enjoys helping people achieve their dreams of what a home can bring to a family or individual. And while he is no longer on the tools, he loves and appreciates the amazing Team he has around him, especially the ‘Professional Tradie’, who has a desire to ‘Be the Best!’

Office Manager

Debbie brings her 20 years’ experience in office administration and bookkeeping to her role at Martin Locke Homes and has been a valued part of the team since inception of the company in 2010.

On top of managing the office team, she is on hand to assist clients during the finance approval process and remains in contact with your chosen financial institution by raising progress claims throughout the build.

Jenny Baker

Office Administrator

Working closely with our Construction Manager and Estimator, Jenny ensures each home built by Martin Locke Homes is brought to life seamlessly.

Organising building approvals, assisting with the estimation process, construction schedules and managing purchase orders is all part of her weekly routine.

Tara Duggan

Client Administrator

Tara works closely with our clients during selections stage and throughout construction via our online communication system Co-Construct.

She provides construction updates and administration support to ensure our clients enjoy a smooth and stress-free building process.

Perry svensson

Construction Project Manager

Perry has over 40 years’ experience in commercial and residential construction with most of his career working on Lancini developments throughout the region and those include the Kalynda Chase Development, Hermit Park Shopping Centre and City Lane.

Perry oversees complex projects and provides Quality Assurance and advises the in-house construction and trade partners to ensure MLH very high standards are maintained.

Colin Richardson

Construction Manager

Colin Richardson has a background in building design and carpentry.

He completed his mature-age Carpentry Apprenticeship with Martin Locke Homes before relocating to Cairns and attaining his own Builder's Licence.

Now Col has re-joined the MLH team bringing his knowledge and skill to the team as Construction Manager.



Shaun brings many years experience as a working carpenter and is a valued member of the MLH Carpentry Crew.

He works alongside Leading Hand Carpenter Brayden, to provide guidance and growth opportunities for the MLH team of carpentry apprentices.

Shaun believes Martin Locke Homes provides a work environment that promotes excellence and attention detail and that attitude to workmanship is reflected in the finished result.

James Barrie


At age 20 James Barrie is an apprentice with a bright future. 

James believes working and learning within the MLH Carpentry Crew will put him in good stead for a long and successful career in the industry.

James hopes to start his own business one day.

Carpentry Apprentice

North Queensland Toyota Cowboys hooker Jake Granville is renowned for his skills on the footy field, but did you know he’s handy with a nail gun too?

The 28-year-old joined the Martin Locke Homes Carpentry Crew as he looks to complete his carpentry apprenticeship.

When his football career took off, his trade took a back seat but Jake sees it as vital to his future after football and is committed to earning his trade with the MLH team.

darcy mehan

Carpentry Apprentice

Darcy Mehan is a young man with a bright future. By grade 11, Darcy had already completed a Certificate III in Agriculture on his family's property in Charters Towers.

Keen to pursue his passion for carpentry, Darcy has now taken up a school-based apprenticeship with the MLH Carpentry Crew.

He travels to Townsville from Charters Towers every Friday to work on site with the team and hopes to continue working full-time with MLH after he completes year 12.
