about the role

Martin Locke Homes (MLH) requires a full time Project Administrator/Manager to join our team.

Martin is a builder of superior quality new homes in Townsville since 2004, who does not mass produce homes, and is looking for someone who is experienced, self-motivated, loyal, and capable of ‘building a home from the office’.

MLH has the ‘onsite’ team that is capable and has the capacity to take on and grow from the numerous opportunities that are presenting themselves to the company. This role is viewed as a senior position within the company, and the right person will have the opportunity to share in the successes of the company’s growth strategy.

The successful applicant will be trustworthy, reliable, a good communicator and have a desire to be the absolute best at what they have chosen to do. They must pride themselves on attention to detail and have an appreciation for systems and procedures. They need to have prior experience using project management programs, such as Databuild or similar.

The ‘perfect candidate’ will have a very good construction knowledge/experience and be highly efficient and capable in project administration/management. ‘


Required Skills

  • Extremely efficient, diligent and attention-to-detail a must
  • Preferably have worked in a similar role in the residential building industry
  • Possess experience in project management systems such as Databuild to carryout administration and ordering requirements for projects, including variations.
  • Ability to co-ordinate and obtain building approvals, communicate with subcontractors & suppliers, issue purchase orders and assist the Site Supervisor with scheduling.
  • Be an absolute team player who believes rewards come when they and their team succeed.


Highly regarded skills

  • Have worked in the Construction industry for a minimum of 5-10 years in a similar role
  • Be a team player but also have the confidence and ability to lead as ‘the builder in the office’.
  • Read plans and liaise with building consultants (engineer, truss manufacturer, designer etc.) to prepare a project to be ready to quote
  • Assist the Managing Director to quote a new home in readiness for a presentation and construction contract signing.
  • Take responsibility of the house/project following contract signing, through both the building approval process and client selection/variation process, including task delegation and oversight to other MLH team members where appropriate.
  • Act as a conduit between the office and site, working closely with Site Manager John Pritchard.
  • Possess the ability to offer design input when working with new clients and building designer
  • Be accountable for and provide accurate reports on job progress and job completion including budget verse actuals.
