Display Home Walk Through

The ‘Mitchell 334’ with its distinctive ‘zones’ is a home uniquely designed to meet the individual needs of every family member, as well as an entertainer for family and friends. Whether it is quiet time alone for kids (or mum and dad), or family time in small groups or as a whole, the Mitchell 334 with its subtle and soothing Japanese touches throughout will cater to every occasion or mood.

It is also Queensland’s first ever, ‘Accessible Living’ display home, with features such as ‘no steps’ from the street to inside and throughout main living, wider hallways and doors, and future proofing bathrooms and toilets with reinforced walls for future grab rails and hand rails. These features are almost unnoticeable to people without needs, but with an aging population and more care and consideration given to people with needs, homes with design features like these will make sure you home stands the test of time, and above the rest.

While it is what’s inside that will ultimately take people’s breath away, the journey starts outside with the master craftsman’s finish. Through a modern skillion roof design, cobblestone feature wall, and a mix of rendered blockwork and James Hardie ‘Stria’ cladding is what gains attention first. However, it is when these features are combined with two corner glass windows, nestled between ‘Jalousie’ Louvres, (which do not require unsightly security screens) with their own rendered hood awnings, is what gives the home its unique street appeal.

The ‘practical’ yet ‘appealing and sophisticated’ feel and look of the home has been a major talking point so far and again, this starts outside on the driveway. Practical because of the full garage width driveway to the street allowing for double parking, but appealing and sophisticated due to the mixed use of ‘Innisgrey’ exposed aggregate concrete, broken up with two ‘sandstone’ look feature concrete panels, which combine seamlessly and leads you to the spacious porcelain tiled front porch.

The 2.3m high x 1.2m wide custom made ‘Sunrise’ front door is the first of many natural timber features you will experience as you walk through the home. As well as the first class finish to the door, there is a number of smaller detailed finishes that need mentioning. As well as no step to the front door, there is also no weather seal stuck to the floor tiles acting as a small trip hazard. The weather seal is rebated into the back of the door, and upon closing, a button is automatically pushed, which activates the weather seal and pushes it down onto the tiles, giving a seamless transition from the external honed to the internal polished porcelain tiles. The door also has double pull handle, roller latch, deadbolt lock, stainless steel ball bearing hinges, and stylish magnetic door stop.

Stepping through the front door into the foyer entry, you will first notice the timber feature above, set within the 3m ‘coffee’ ceiling. The amazing matt finish to this timber is highlighted further with full perimeter LED strip lighting and creates a stunning entrance to greet guests into your home.

To your left you will notice the first obvious ‘touch of Japan’, with a large 2.3m high x 3m Shoji Panel, which doubles as another feature in the entry foyer, as well as being the sliding door to the tranquil family loungeroom. The features in this room are subtle yet inviting. The custom built in ‘Cushioned Daybed’ sits under two Awning Windows, which are adjacent to the Jalousie Louvres and corner glass panels, which combine beautifully to allow in plenty of natural light and breezes. The room is fully painted in a feature colour, with the ‘half splayed’ 68mm skirting and architraves, as well as two step cornice highlighted by being painted in gloss acrylic white.  The carpet is high quality ‘Touch of Freedom’ brand, on the highest possible underlay and has been designed to relax and enjoy alone or with loved ones. (However, quite easily could be the home theatre if that is your preference).

Walking from the foyer entry and through a short hallway, it would be easy to miss a door, slightly set back to the left, which leads to the master bedroom ‘zone’… We will come back to that later. Just a few more steps ahead and you will enter the open plan living, where your family and friends will be amazed at what is revealed.

This area combines the kitchen, dining and large lounge room space, and while the features here are endless, it is the connectivity to the alfresco, courtyard and ‘kids wing’ that make this home so functional. But first the features…. Most likely your attention will be focused on the magnificent 5m ‘square set’ raking ceilings through this entire space, with two large timber columns that span from floor to ceiling, helping accentuate this feature. The high level motorized louvres and fixed glass help finish the ceiling feature.

Nothing brings a family together more than sharing a meal, and The Mitchell 334, with it’s ‘kitchen dining’ experience is at the heart of this very important area. With a state of the art ‘Bora’ Downdraft Teppanyaki  hot plate, built in to a Silestone benchtop designed large enough to double as a second dining table. Another practical, yet magnificent feature, is a custom made LED strip, timber feature light, hanging from the raking ceiling over the benchtop. This timber light combines well with more timber floating shelves adjacent to the ‘maroon’ colour metalline feature splashback. It is a place where the entire family can come together, making memories and sharing stories while preparing and cooking meals.

As well as the Teppenyaki Plate, the kitchen is a chef’s delight, with its high quality ‘Smeg’ appliances, including ceramic cooktop and built in undermount rangehood above, wall oven coupled with a ‘combi steam oven’ and electric warming draw below. The extremely durable, stylish and modern black granite ‘Schock’ kitchen sink, has also been strategically placed to help with both the flow of the kitchen, as well as being hidden from view behind a polished timber high top.

Everything is and at your fingertips in this massive custom designed kitchen. The 2.3m high, 2-pak finish joinery, with fridge, freezer and dishwasher all fully integrated and hidden from view, along with Blumotion ‘Antaro’ soft close, handle less doors and draws throughout, cooking has never been more enjoyable. Everything is perfectly finished off with a built down plaster bulkhead and shadow line finish eliminating all ‘dust collecting shelves’.

As well as an abundance of storage within the kitchen, there is also a large well thought out
walk in pantry. Practical for the direct access from the garage, (which also has storage space and external sliding door access) through to the kitchen, and high end finish for the combination of soft close ‘open’ draws and cupboards as well as open shelves custom joinery. Plus a space for a second fridge or freezer has been thought of.

While many meals will be shared at the kitchen dining, there is an additional dining space adjacent, which is nestled between a display cabinetry nook on one side, and more built in joinery  on the other, complete with display glass shelving and draws and wine fridge. Both these two ‘dining’ areas, adjoin the large lounge room, and form the ‘heart’ of the home.

However, it is the features above and either side of the open plan living area that truly make this home special and truly designed for tropics. While this area is air-conditioned, the features that contribute to cooling the home, will ensure it hardly ever gets used.

On one side you have the north facing raking ceilings with motorized louvres, along with the 2.3m high x 5m wide ‘rebated’ sliding glass door below, which opens to a massive 46m2 ‘indoor/outdoor’ Alfresco living area. Opposite you have two large banks of glass louvres looking into a private Courtyard’ that help ‘pull’ the natural north/east breezes through, which is the perfect ‘cross ventilation’ a home should have.

The Alfresco, which overlooks beautiful parkland, is completely lockable with 2.3m high bi-fold louvre shutters. It also has a large BBQ step out with more bi-fold louvre shutters above to protect this area, as well as the adjoining built in joinery which has built in sink and stone top finish.  The Alfresco as well as being lockable, is constructed to handle both indoor and outdoor use. The tiled slab has slight fall out, and coupled with strategically positioned drains both under the rebated doors and in the BBQ step out, it also has ‘Smooth Finish’ Render blocks walls, allowing for full housing out of this area. Look up, and you will see another ‘standard finish’. Just like the front porch, the Alfresco ceiling is finished with water resistant fully set plasterboard, with semi-gloss paint finish. No more unsightly ‘divi-mould’  and nailed FC sheeted ceilings.

The two large banks of louvres that open out to the Courtyard does much more than just help cross ventilate the home. They also give a magnificent visual aspect from the main living area through to the Courtyard with its natural timber stained deck, (with NO visible fixings), and ‘Vertical Garden’ which is nestled between Sandstone columns and Sandstone insert masonry rendered wall.

To gain access to the Courtyard, you will have to leave the main living area through another ‘Shoji cavity sliding door’. This door as well as being a feature in itself, is what connects you to the next ‘zone’, being the ‘Kids Wing’. Upon sliding the door, you will enter the kids ‘Activity Room’, which along with TV area, has more timber features that will amaze. Along with a floating timber study desk, with an LED strip lit floating shelf above, there is an unbelievable finished, 5-panel timber & glass bi-fold door that connects the Activity Room to the Courtyard.

Within the ‘kids wing’, as well as the Activity Room and study area, Shane our Building Designer has grouped together all the necessities, comfortably and practically. This area includes 3 good sized built in bedrooms, complete with full melamine custom robes and hanging shelf behind double mirrored sliding robe doors, which are 2.3m high to allow storage on the top shelf for suitcases and other larger items.

There is plenty of storage with a good sized laundry with built in joinery and linen cupboard, as well as a walk in linen closet across the hallway. The main bathroom has a large shower, built in bath and vanity with stone top and soft close cupboards and draws. Other standard features include tile insert wastes in shower and floor waste, no glass on the shower but still private, and walls tiled to 1.2m high. The ‘powder room’, has the main toilet separate from the bathroom, complete with another custom built in vanity with stone top and draw.

This whole area (excluding the tiled bathroom) is finished with 5mm ‘SD 428 Northern Rata’ extremely durable timber look vinyl planking, which must be seen to be appreciated.

And finally, just like the end of a day in the life of a parent, time to look for a soft place to land, and the Master Bedroom ‘zone’, which includes custom built in walk in robe, ensuite, beauty desk and spacious bedroom is the perfect place. With the latest in home automation, you can control all lighting, music, air-conditioning and much more easily through the latest technology. To help showcase some of these features, we have set up three ‘scenes or modes’ which control all the lighting and remote blinds.

In ‘Night Mode’ the room is personalised to your preferred settings, and in this case, there are only a select few lights turned on to help get ready for bed. Those lights include the 2 pendant hanging lights (dimmed down) over the bed side tables, the dimmed down lights in the Beauty Desk, the 3 recessed LED’s in the timber shelf above the vanity, the 3 LED’s in the Caesar Stone shower niche and the 2 strip LED’s in the WIR (also dimmed down) which help give just enough light as you enter the room and get into bed.

No need to get out of bed to turn adjust anything, because at the push of a button on the wall either side of the bed, you can adjust up the lights to do some night time reading, or turn everything off when you are ready to go to sleep.

The parents retreat is also designed to give the full 5-star luxury hotel feel, complete with full blockout of natural light when desired. The 100% block out motorised curtains in the bedroom which hang behind the bulkhead ceiling. Along with the motorised blind in the ensuite that completely seal due to the top, sides and bottom track will ensure it won’t be the daylight that wakes you up.

In the morning (or at any time) when you wake up, you could then push the ‘Daytime Mode’, which will turn off all lights (if any were on), and automatically open both the motorised curtains and blind. If you woke up in the morning and it is still dark, easy, push the third personalized setting, being ‘Getting Ready Mode’, and the curtains would stay shut for privacy, and the personalized ‘Getting ready’ lights will come on, which at present include all lights.

The master ensuite includes a magnificent free standing bath, set in front of solid Caesar Stone clad wall, with floor to ceiling black polished rectified edge porcelain tiles throughout.  The shower as well as the Caesar Stone lit niche, also includes Frameless glass panel, with a step free entry, flowing down to a stainless steel tile insert waste and a fully tiled seat. The plumbing fixtures and fittings are high quality, and include mixers to both vanities, shower and bath, with waterfall spout also to bath. The shower has a combination of overhead rainwater head, as well as a hand held shower rose. The toilet, which is hidden behind a cavity sliding door, is just like the main toilet with full ceramic, back to the wall, soft close seat with hidden water inlet tap.

The Parents Retreat, includes a 2 – sided Laminated walk in robe, with a combination of draws, half hanging, full hanging and open cupboards, complete with LED strip lighting either side. The beauty desk sits proudly within the bedroom complete with the most amazing timber, LED strip lit mirror siting on a solid Caesar Stone top, with 2-pak finished draws and LED lit display cabinet above, and more polished timber finished doors and draws below.

The ensuite vanity is complete with a double under mount bowls, Caesar Stone top, and more solid timber feature doors below. It also has a small Caesar stone splashback below a polished timber open shelf with 3 recessed LED lights. Above this feature, and spanning the full width of the double vanity is 3 x recessed mirrored cupboards that provide an abundance of storage space.

A modern family home is not complete without the family’s favorite music playing. As well as being able to control all lighting, air-conditioning and TV’s through an IPad, The Mitchell 334 has speakers in the main living, Alfresco and master bedroom, which can all be controlled from each room, or again through the home automation control ‘panel’, being the Mini IPad.

Other ‘electronic features’ within the home include a front door bell with camera, which allow viewing from the screens in the main living and main bedroom. They also ‘take a picture’ of whoever pushes the door bell so you can see who visited when you were out. The indoor screens also double as an intercom between each other. There is also a very high quality security system, and combination of crimsafe, and safety screens for complete sense of security for everyone.
