The Kinnardy Street project consisted of two separate residences. The first was a four-bedroom house including a carers’ room and another separate two-bedroom unit, both situated on the same block.

There was connection between the house and unit via a fully-accessible pathway but also gardens between both residences for privacy.

The brief for the house was to include a room for a ‘Carer’ but still provide the occupants with some privacy. The design placed the Carers’ bedroom at the front of the house to monitor those entering and exiting, but far enough away from the residents’ rooms to allow for privacy.

The house included two, two-bedroom, one-bathroom pods separated by a common living area in the centre of the house. While the unit was designed for more independent living suitable for the residents’ needs.

This was another successful project completed in partnership between Martin Locke Homes and Cootharinga North Queensland.
