MLH marks 10-year milestone with move
we have a new home
Twenty twenty-one has already been a big year for our local custom home team.
We've achieved two major milestones - the beginning of a new decade in business and moving in to our first stand-alone office space.
After launching our construction company in late 2010 amid the Global Financial Crisis, we're proud that MLH has grown to become a successful and respected custom home builder and a leader in accessible home design and construction.
“The Townsville construction industry has been through some tough times over the past decade," Managing Director Martin Locke said.
"For me building a business is just like raising a child, in that, if you are not ready for a long game, don’t do it and if you get the early years right, you’ll be able to weather any storm,” he said.
Having operated out of make-shift offices from display home garages for the past decade, Mr Locke’s long term game plan sees his team now move to a dedicated space for the first time in what he calls another natural step in the evolution and growth of MLH.
“My team and I, with the help of our trusted local trade and supply partners, have stayed true to our vision to simply be honest at every turn and build great homes that make a difference to people’s lives, which has held us in good stead,” Mr Locke said.
“We knew it was important to grow in a sustainable way, and we are proud to be a small but successful business focused on workmanship and customer satisfaction.”
The office space, on Ingham Road in West End, provides a central location for client and trade and supply partner interactions as well as a hub for staff to work out of during the week while the award-winning Family 310 ‘Multigenerational’ display home at Elliot Springs showcases the MLH construction product on weekends.
Martin Locke Homes has achieved great success over our 10-year history, from taking out a State Award for its first Display Home, through to winning every major regional award.
We have emerged as a North Queensland leader and advocate for minimum accessible design standards, multigenerational homes, and design and construction of Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) for those living with special needs.
Our team also completed our first semi-commercial build last year, delivering Flinders Lane in collaboration with Townsville City Council.
According to Mr Locke, MLH's 11th year will be one of further growth and transformation.
“This past 10 years has allowed us to build a solid foundation for our business and I see the next 10 as the true growth phase, with some major announcements later this year,” Mr Locke said.
“It has also been a blessing in disguise to have started MLH in such trying times, as it has taught us to always be thinking of new ways and opportunities to do better in business.”
The MLH office is situated at 41 Ingham Road, West End and is open 8am – 4pm weekdays. The Family 310 display home is at 47 Vista Place, Julago (Elliot Springs) and is open 10am – 5pm on weekends or by appointment weekdays.
