As first home buyers Whitney & Jeremy never dreamed they could afford a Martin Locke Homes build.

But when they looked deeper they found the MLH industry-leading standard inclusions meant they were getting more for their money.

We asked them a few questions about their decision process as they approach the exciting experience of seeing their first home come to life!

1. Why have you chosen to build a new home?

We moved to Townsville from interstate two years ago and have been renting since. The last year we haven’t been enjoying all the inspections and restrictions that come with renting.

We started looking into buying/building and initially thought we would be a few years away from owning our own home.

We decided to build a home so we could start contributing towards something of our own, and Townsville is a market that was affordable for us to do so in.

2. What were you looking for in a builder?

Being first home owners we were looking for a builder that had quality finishes, was genuine, and would always have our best interest in mind.

3. How/why did you come to the decision to build with Martin Locke Homes?

When we first walked in to the Martin Locke Homes Elliot Springs display home we were blown away by the finishes and imagined that we would never be able to afford to use a builder like MLH.

After first meeting with Martin, we soon realised that the standard inclusions with MLH were more than some other builders, and we liked that our dealings were direct with Martin.

Martin worked with us to add to and remove things from our plan whilst always ensuring our build remained within our budget and without altering Martin's high quality build standards.

4. Why have you chosen a block at Elliot Springs?

The serenity of Elliot Springs reminds us both of home (Warrnambool and Canberra). It’s that little bit closer to work and the city, and the start of a large community that we can’t wait to see take off!

5. What are some of your favourite design features of your new home?

Since deciding to build with MLH we have realised how much of a difference the accessible living features in our home will make to our lives, and in the long term if we decide to sell, by giving our home a point of difference in the market.

We love that on a small block we have been able to get double-gate access. We also can’t wait to make lots of use of the theatre room and kitchen with a walk-in-pantry!

6. How do you think your new home will impact your lives?

Watching our own home be built from the ground up, and being able to contribute money to something of our own will be a huge accomplishment as first home owners.

Having MLH alongside us to guide us through the process has been a great help!
